Our Wakakirri team of 90 students performed at the
regional finals of Wakakirri last week. The students were incredible and did
our school proud. There were a number of awards presented on the night and our
school was awarded the; “Best School in Public Award.” This award is determined
by how well the students work together, follow instructions and manage
themselves for the entire day and evening of competition. I am so proud of our
students for achieving this award and very proud of our dedicated staff who
gave up many lunch breaks to ensure the students would perform at their best.
This morning we watched Wakakirri TV to find out how
the team was placed amongst the 12 participating Sunshine Coast schools.
Brightwater State School Wakakirri team has placed first and as you can imagine
the students and staff are delighted with this news. The students well and
truly deserved this win as they made a huge commitment to attend rehearsals
over the term. Congratulations kids!
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank
the very small and very special group of parents who worked tirelessly to
assist in creating sets, props and costumes. Your efforts resulted in our
students and staff having a very positive and enjoyable experience. We could
not have done it without you.
