This week we were lucky enough to have an Australian author visit the year three classrooms. Dr Cameron Stelzer is an author who writes books for children including a series of books about the Stroogle. We had lots of fun reading and enjoying the characters and the books prior to Dr Stelzer's visit although we were a bit worried about who the Stroogle was before we learnt that he is a lovely, caring creature from some of the books. When Dr Stelzer worked with us in Year 3 we learnt lots and lots about how to get better at Persuasive Writing. He taught us a special rule, called the rule of three. That's when we try and add three good words into our persuasive writing to make our descriptions more amazing, fantastic and interesting. Sometimes we can even use alliteration to describe things using the same letter like, creamy, crunchy, chocolate ice cream cones.
We really enjoyed our time with a wonderful Australian author and hope we see Dr Stelzer and the Stroogle at Brightwater again soon.
