Brightwater State School opened its doors on 23rd January 2012. This new P-6 State School is situated in the picturesque seaside suburb of Mountain Creek and in the subdivision of Brightwater.
Our school provides safe, supportive, engaging and disciplined learning experiences for our students and their families.
Independent Public School
On the 1st January 2013 Brightwater State School became an Independent Public School. As an Independent Public School our community will have even more opportunities to cater for the needs and expectations of our students by working collaboratively with staff, students, parents and the local community.
Independent Public Schools will benefit from:

opportunities for innovation – tailoring school programs to engage, enrich and suit the needs of our students;
locally tailored workforce – building a workforce that is highly capable and suited to the programs and services we deliver;
increased financial flexibility – providing us with opportunities to secure funding support and/or sponsorship opportunities to support school programs.
Public Private Partnership
Brightwater State School is one of seven schools in South East Queensland to be part of the Public Private Partnership concept.
The project involves the Aspire Schools consortium taking responsibility for the design, construction and ongoing maintenance of the school for 30 years. At the end of this time the school reverts to the Queensland Government.
The Aspire Schools consortium will have day-to-day management responsibility for maintenance, cleaning, janitorial and schools officer (grounds-keeping) staff, while these staff will remain employees of the Queensland Government and continue to enjoy coverage under the relevant Awards and Certified Agreements.
By giving this responsibility to an external partner, school Principals and staff can remain focused on curriculum, learning and student welfare issues. All core education areas remain the responsibility of the Principal and DET.
Community groups and Parent and Citizens' Associations will also remain integral to each school's community.
